Join us at Mineral Wells State Park for a Spring camping trip!
We will be joining the Dallas Brights Family Meetup for this adventure.
Saturday, April 21st - Sunday, April 22nd
Mineral Wells State Park is located about 45 minutes West of Fort Worth.
The park offers lake swimming, fishing, rock climbing and hike/bike trails. You can see a video of the park and it's interesting history here: http://www.youtube.com/user/TexasParksWildl...
There are tent and RV sites as well as screened shelters. You can make reservations on the internet, by email or phone: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/business/park_r...
Campers need to bring their own food and supplies for the weekend. We will arrive and explore the park on Saturday and meetup in the evening for a campfire and marshmallow roast.
On Sunday, after we pack up camp, we can visit the Mineral Wells Fossil Park. http://www.mineralwellsfossilpark.com
This is a free park where visitors can collect and keep the fossils that they find! The park has an abundant amount of fossils that are over 300 million years old!
The State Park only has a limited number of screened shelters, so please make your reservations right away if this is the way your family would like to camp. Each site is allowed 8 people so it is possible for 2 small families to share a site or set up a tent outside a shelter site. Please mark in your RSVP what type of site you have reserved and we can use the comments to discuss other details of the trip.
Looking forward to a great trip!
